Shu restaurant is a high-end Japanese ‘Kushiage’ restaurant based in Paris. I have worked on their graphic material since their opening five years ago. The brief was to create a new menu with new branding using the original logo I created for them. They also regularly update their wine list, so they wanted me to come up with a concept for displaying the dates on the list without printing it every time.
I designed the menu cover with a close-up of the logo using a new pastel colour palette to provide a sense of freshness. I used dots as a new graphic element to tie in with the arch shape of the logo. As their menu is only three courses, I suggested the folding system with one course for each section. My concept for the folding menu was to give a sense of three dimensions. I left a blank area for the date of the wine so that the restaurant can include the number when they update the wine list.
