French Touch Fishing is a fishing equipment distribution company based in Paris, France.
The brief was to create a 60-page catalogue for 2014 with a new concept.
To meet the needs of the target audience, I developed an information-based concept for the catalogue that included scaling and measurement of all the products in a grid.
I created the cover illustration and suggested an industrial-style concept in grey and white using a very minimal design. The client’s brief was to mix street culture, fashion and fishing in Canal Saint Martin, in the Seine or traditional fishing in the countryside.
In terms of the style, I was influenced by Japanese plastic model companies such as TAMIYA. The fishing products reminded me of my childhood playing with RC cars or plastic models, and I wanted to give French Touch Fishing customers the same feeling – recapturing childhood joys.
I also suggested using recycled paper because their fishing principles of ‘catch and release’ are environmentally friendly.
The company is now using this look and style as the basis of their branding. I am working with them to prepare for the 2015 catalogue.
